The L’Estrange Early Learning Centre project involved a significant restoration and extension to a heritage building. The building consisting of two large levels of early learning spaces, playscape areas spanning over three levels and a 27-car basement carpark.  This project was designed with the intention for the centre to make use of the whole block of land while incorporating a clear architectural delineation between the heritage building and the new extension behind. Special consideration needed to be given to protecting the integrity and architectural significance of the heritage building, while also designing a functional layout suitable for a childcare centre. In conjunction with functional spaces, the client brief required L’estrange Early Learning Centre to have spaces that created an interactive and engaging environment for children.

In addition to the statutory requirements, Thallon Mole Group added their recognizable flare by creating architectural details to set off individual spaces. Traditional coffered ceilings with ornate cornices, curved bulkhead ceilings, customed designed interactive playscapes, considerations to the colour palette and visual seamless interaction with the local bushland and neighbourhood view. The finished product delivered two weeks ahead of projected practical completion and on budget presents a high quality, ready for use childcare centre that showcases exceptional trade craftsmanship and respect to the integrity of a Heritage building.

L’Estrange Early Learning Centre commenced early 2019 and completed in 2020.
